The Springtime Bridge

The Easter Bunny’s bridge broke down. He couldn’t take his eggs to town. He’d boiled them until they were right. A yummy Eastertime delight. He’d colored them pink, green, and blue and washed them off with springtime dew.

But now the bunny pulled and tugged. He yanked and huffed and puffed and lugged. But still the bridge was sinking deep. The forest folk began to weep. The fuzzy yellow chicks stood by and wished that they knew how to fly!

The strongest forest dweller there, so big and brave, was Bruin Bear. He said he’d get his wood and glue and shiny nails to make things new. So Bruin did bring up and mend the Springtime Bridge from end to end. The Easter Bunny passed out eggs and spicy muffins packed in kegs. He brought his favorite fruity punch and passed it out with Easter lunch!

Then Bruin got a box of cherries, a pot of honey, and a bowl of berries. And everyone who gathered there called him a hero, Easter Bear!
